Saturday

What I'm doing between questions: catching up on endless RSS feeds, and subject heading cleanup.

I had to return to this because of the first question I was asked today....

11:00
  • [phone] "Is 'duh' a real word?" Yes, it's in our 2003 Merriam-Webster. And we need an updated Dictionary here at Ref....
  • Guest pass for internet
  • "Can I have headphones?" We have earbuds (and normally headphones) to purchase for $1. "Oh. Nevermind"
  • Note to staff about Werewolf suddenly drifting towards scamming for money and lying about returning material -- and as I wrote that, she came over to ask about printing and somehow she's killed the taskbar/tab of the Firefox page, so ... yeah she's still coming in in spite of the 10 month break in updating this blog
  • "I don't have a 'user key' for this class I'm trying to register for" Click on "pay" and you don't need one. ;-)
  • Sam won't let kid login -- I go over and eventually it works (had to delete his password...twice!)
  • Also, same kid, Google docs won't print because of something Adobe related
  • User Key kid can't open class docs, also because of Adobe
  • [notes to tech people about all this]
  • Signing out of study room (a person who knows where the clock is AND how to read it!)
  • Wolf wants to know how to find and print the next king she wants a picture of...but has to go right now (eyeroll from me)
12:00
  • Staff member here on her day off looking for books on Amelia Earhart  -- we chat
  • Dude shows me his hand-made lanyard for his flashdrive that has a Doctor Who ID badge on it (his name and phone # on the back)  -- BRILL!
  • Another person who knows where the clock is and how to use it (signing IN this time)
  • Help scanning to email
  • "Should I say 'yes' to downloading Adobe?" I go click on it to ensure plausible deniability for the patron
  • Help scanning to email-- awesome
  • Request for vols 1 & 2 of Attack on Titan No Regrets -- we'll buy since we have the main series
  • Scratch paper
  • Pictures of atoms (after a lengthy reference interview that started with "science"--fun kids though)
