I will never, never, never understand the abiding interest in the P#ltz#r book. I swear we've replaced that 10 times - not counting its large print, book on tape/CD, Spanish, young adult, juvenile, and all other iterations.
ReplyDeleteIt's shock value, the same thing that makes Jerry Springer et al. popular: "as fucked-up as my life is, at least it isn't THAT bad!" It's also written at about a 5th grade level, so kids can understand it, and I think a lot of kids--the patron this day was a teen--can relate to being (or feeling) poorly treated by grown-ups in their lives.
